Haow many inches apart should i plant watermelon seeds?

Plant them in small mounded hills that you form with your hands - about 6" high and 18" across. Then stick 6 seeds in - a couple inches apart, evenly spaced - in the top of the mound - just poke them down about an inch, and cover with dirt, and give it an affectionate pat.

When they emerge, thin out the three weakest, leaving the three strongest to grow into plants.

Plant only well past the last frost date, when the ground is thouroughly warmed. And they need LOTS of space. Depending on the variety, vines can meander 6 feet to 20 feet.

Watermelons like all vining crops should be planted in small hills.

Mound a hill approximately 18" to 24" high and place towards the center of the hill approximately 4 to 6 seeds.

Water them occasionally but do not over water. I have found out in the past that watermelons do like partial shade. so I plant them in the shade of an old Elm tree I have on the property. If you plant in full sun the vines can burn out eventually killing the plant.

There is nothing better than a cool piece of watermelon on a hot Summer day.... Enjoy !
Reply:I farm fruits and vegetables. I would plant them in a sunny area about 8 hours a day. I plant with the planter 6 feet between rows and 6 feet in front of each other. As a home gardener you will need to mound them with plenty of compost. They are heavy feeders. Give them plenty of water to build up the melons with hold a lot of water.1 in to 2 in of water a week. make sure there is plenty of sunshine little sunshine stunted plant growth. Good growing.
Reply:Yes you put them in mounds, put the mounds about five feet apart ,put for or five seeds around the mound and thin them to two or three plants when they get about three inches high
