Whats thining a plant mean?

i know this is a stupid question and i think i know the answer but to make sure , on my seed package it says "Thin seedlings when they are 4 inches in height,with the final spacing of the plants 2 feet apart"





tell me how to Thin seedlings.

Whats thining a plant mean?
Remove some of the seedlings so that they can receive more nutrients and make better roots.
Reply:It means that if you have planted two or more seeds together, then remove one or more seedlings and transplant elsewhere. So if you have an area of 6 feet by 6 feet and and you have lets say 12 seedlings in bunches of 3, you would leave one in the ground and place the other two two feet apart from seedling that you did not remove.
