They turn a little yellow, become a little more flexible, or less firm in texture, and drop off. Is that normal? It's hot outside, so I leave my a/c on during the day. I don't overwater it, and it sits in shade mostly, though I open the blinds 2-4 times a week to give it sunshine and fresh air. At times I leave it outside overnight, when it's nice out (I live in FLA). But lately the leaves have begun plopping off. Not many, maybe 5 or 6. But this is the first I have seen it do that. I've only had it about 3-4 months, and it is a small plant still. About 4-5 inches high, and 3-4 inches around (leaves etc).
Any ideas why????
My Jade Plant's leaves fall off, is that normal?
First, I suggest you take a magnifying glass and look for any tiny insects that may be attacking the plant. Look for webbing from tiny insects or scale (an oval to round spot on the leaf that can be pried or scratched off). Next, check to see that the plant has proper drainage and that water is not allowed to collect in the basin under the plant. Also, if the soil is allowed to dry out totally between waterings, you might want to water slightly more frequently. However, the soil should not remain consistently overly moist.
Reply:Is it getting too much water or a cold draft? That's what it sounds like.
Reply:My jade was doing that and I found that it wasn't getting enough sun. I also added fertilizer. Good Luck! Also could try www.hgtv.com (Home %26amp; Garden TV) for more information.
