How long will it take for my aloe vera cutting to grow roots?

I took a cutting from my big aloe vera plant, the cutting is about 6 inches, i planted it about 1 %26amp; half inches into a soil mixed with gravel ( 3/4 soil , 1/4 gravel )

i'm not sure about the roots, but if you want to get the aloe out of it you can get it from the prickly stems. i have an aloe plant and that's what i do.
Reply:Usually the aloe plant has lots of "baby" aloes growing in the pot all the time. Try starting with one of those instead of a cutting. It is prolific and will fill a big pot over the summer.
