I have vegetable plants growing under CFL (compact flourescent Lights) and everything I read says 1-3 inches?

everything says to put them 1-2 inches away from the plants leaves but I appear to be burning them. Any suggestions from anyone who has grown edible fruits/veggies with flourescent?

You keep the about 3 inches from a normal florescent bulb. Compact bulbs make more heat so you have to move it away to maybe 5 inches. That should be close enough for maximum photosynthesis but far enough to not scorch the leaves. If, by chance, they do still scorch back it off a little more.
