How do you properly plant a Colorado Blue Spruce pine tree?

I read the instructions, but I am confused on what "Create a 2-inch soil berm around the pine tree" means?

Also, should I use those miracle gro evergreen fertilizer spikes right away?

Should I buy any new soil or just use the soil that I dig up to cover up the pine tree after putting it in the hole?

You have a very elegant tree!! Hopefully you live where spruces do best: where summers are cool or mild. They do not like heat or humidity. Depending on where you live, they will grow to 30 to 60 feet tall and 10-20 feet wide.

"Creating a berm" just means that after you plant the tree you create a "bowl" where water will congregate above the roots. This will help the water to go deep into the roots and not drain off in some other direction. The "berm" should be at the outside branches. This means that it will grow bigger each year!!

Spruces have no special soil requirements. So just use what you have.

Do Not use the fertilizer spikes right away.

Good Luck!!
