Mom put the top of this pineapple we ate in some soil 15 years ago. It has always been a beautiful houseplant. A couple months ago, the cutest little pineapple sprouted on it. It's about 4 inches high right now. Do you think it will actually mature inside and if so, how long does that take?
Pineapple plant, planted 15 years ago, just grew a pineapple, indoors. How long does it take to mature?
Congratulations - that's great !
Obviously you are doing the right thing. It will take several months for your pineapple baby to mature.
See source for more interesting information about growing pineapple as a house plant.
Reply:Sounds like a long time for the pineapple to mature, 15 years is a long time. It usually grows in one season and before dying it sends out a small pineapple which usually takes about a year to mature. In Hawaii it takes a shorter time because of the weather and humidity.
Reply:Wow thats fantastic!!!... im sorry but i dont know the answer to your querie but i can guess that your doing the right thing and i would love to give it a go myself..... here's looking forward to the next 15 years
Reply:We bought a pineapple plant last year for my mother in law for Mother's Day. It had little pineapple like yours started. I took several months to mature from there and we kept it outside. I think it was some time in October. But we live in Zone 9.
It is now starting a new pineapple for this year.
Hope that helps.
