It hasn't changed the way it looks for over a year! But it doesn't look shrivelled up or obviously dead! Its round, about 3inches wide and 4 inches tall--somewhat barrel shaped, and deeply ridged
How can I tell if a cactus plant is dead?
One way is if it is all shriveled up. Another way is if it's all squishy and mushy at ground level. It's almost impossible to kill a cactus unless it didn't get enough sun, or you over-watered it and it has root-rot.
Reply:its probably okay then.
Reply:I think it is still alive if its not shriveled, brown and dead.
Reply:You answered your own question. It would be mushy and or shrivelled. But they are very tuff plants.
Reply:No cactus plant not dead because the cactus is strong cause water alot and stay alive!
Reply:Poke it with a pin. If it oozes a little it's alive. Cactus plants are weird.
Reply:It's a cactus. A CACTUS!
Reply:if its heart is not beating!
Reply:If it's still green then it's still alive. Cacti are very slow growing plants, and I mean very slow. They take several years to reach maturity and then they don't seem to change at all for a long time. Some flowering cacti take years to flower even.
So if it's still green, I wouldn't worry.
Reply:if in doubt water it and it will come to life.
Reply:well..................................it depends on what kind of cactus it is
Reply:brown
Reply:How do you kill a cactus, when a desert can't?
