I found a storm door window (about 30 by 30 inch)...would it make good glass for a hot box for plants?

Or would it be just a hard thing to store when not in use?

That would be perfect, especially if it still has a screen in it and a window that can be opened and closed for ventilation. Storage in winter is easy-prop the door against a wall in a shed, barn or garage.

Even if it has no windows that open, you easily prop the door up on a stick or something on sunny days (it does not have to hot outside to get very hot in a cold frame on a sunny day) for ventilation.

I use a lot of storm doors and windows for cold frames with good success. Recycling at its' best.
Reply:Yes. I have a friend who uses old shower doors.

You may need to put a thin coat of paint on it. It gets real hot real fast under glass. Or use some shade cloth, on the inside of the frame.

How hard is it to store a window or door? They's skinny.
