I have acquired a small cactus plant in a terracotta pot, about 5 inches in diameter. How do I keep it alive?

It's cute and I love cacti. How often should I water it and should I do anything else to it? It says it is "Aloe and Hawthorla".

Put the pot in a tub of water with a small amount of fertalizer like miracle grow once a month. Let it soak over night and then put it back out in the window where it will thrive.

Been doing this for years and these suckers (literally) never die.
Reply:they are harder to kill than to keep alive water it weekly
